Michael Higgins joins the Brown coaching staff for his first season after working as the head coach at Trinity for seven seasons.

At Trinity, Higgins guiding the Bantams to unprecedented success. In Higgins' rookie season, Trinity posted its highest-ever win total with a 12-4 record and made its first appearance in the NESCAC Final Four. In 2012, the Bantams posted an 11-7 mark, returned to the NESCAC Semifinals, and earned the program's first bid to the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament. Trinity downed Eastern Connecticut, 13-9, for the first NCAA win in team history, before falling to Tufts in the NCAA Second Round.

Higgins was the 2011 NESCAC Coach of the Year and the New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (NEILA) Coach of the Year. He coached six All Americans during his tenure.

Higgins was the defensive coordinator at Tufts from 2005-2008. He coached nine All-NESCAC selections and two All-Americans while coaching the Jumbo defense, and helped guide Tufts to a 54-26 record in his five seasons and to the NCAA Division III Championship Second Round in 2007. Higgins also has head coaching experience at Thayer Academy and Concord Academy in Massachusetts and Lick Wilmerding Academy in San Francisco. He has been the director of operations for the Catz Sports Performance Center since 2007.
