Mike LeBel wrapped up his fourth year on the Bates men's lacrosse coaching staff in 2020.

LeBel came to Bates from Falmouth High School in Maine, where he was the head coach for 10 seasons (2007-2016). Under LeBel’s guidance, the Yachtsmen won three Class B State Championships (’11, ’12, ’16). LeBel’s teams amassed over 100 wins and earned 14 All-America selections. Falmouth produced four consecutive Maine State Players of the Year from 2011-2014, including Bates alumnus Charlie Fay ‘17, won the honor in 2013. LeBel has been named U.S. Lacrosse Coach of the Year, as well as Portland Press Herald Coach of the Year.

Prior to Falmouth, LeBel was a faculty member and coach at Cushing Academy in Ashburnham, Mass. He was named both US Lacrosse Man of the Year and Coach of the Year during his tenure there.

LeBel played four years at Alfred University. Three of the four years included a trip to the eight-team field of the NCAA Division III Tournament. After serving his senior year as a captain, LeBel continued with the program as a graduate assistant coach, taking over for current Army head coach Joe Alberici. Alfred made a return appearance to the NCAA tournament during LeBel’s two-year stint as an assistant. LeBel earned both his B.A. and M.S in Education from Alfred.
