Nicki Stewart enters her sixth season as head coach of the Asbury University women's lacrosse team for the 2021-22 season.

Before becoming the head coach, Stewart served as the team's assistant for a year. Stewart worked with the defensive unit for the Eagles in 2016, reducing their goals against totals down by 35%, and doubling their number of wins that season.

During her time at Asbury, Stewart has cultivated seven AAC All Conference players, four AAC Champions of Character, 1 NAIA Scholar Athlete, and 26 AAC All Academic and NAIA Scholar athletes.

Most recently, in the 20-21 season Stewart saw success from players Ashley Byrd and Aubrey Curell breaking new program records, as each hit the 100 goal benchmark. Asbury had its most successful season, boasting 3 historic, first- ever wins over tough conference opponents. Additional program history was made as Asbury advanced to the semi-finals of the AAC championships for the first time ever. The 20-21 season Asbury Women's lacrosse was given the IWLCA's prestigious Merit Squad honor, for having the highest team GPA in the NAIA.

Stewart hails originally from Penfield, N.Y., and grew up playing lacrosse from a young age in Westminster, Md. Both areas are known as the "hot-bed" lacrosse areas, often with some of the nation's best lacrosse. She played defense for Francis Scott Key High School in Union Bridge, Md., and played for the Frederick Stars travel club during the summer seasons during high school.

Stewart graduated from Towson University with a bachelor's degree in Psychology in 2012, and she's currently enrolled in Asbury's MBA program. She resides in Wilmore with her husband, Josh, and their three daughters.
