Rainey Whitworth

Rainey Whitworth was named Southern Virginia University's head women's lacrosse coach in June 2019.

As a member of the Southern Virginia's women's lacrosse team, Whitworth in 45 games for the Knights from 2013-16 earning All-CAC Second Team honors after the 2016 season. Whitworth ranks second all-time for the Knights in goals (92), ground balls (111), caused turnovers (52) and free-position goals (19)— and third all-time in total points (105).

Prior to Southern Virginia, Whitworth played one season at Savannah College of Art and Design where she was part of SCAD's 2013 National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) championship team.

After Completing her playing career from Southern Virginia and earning a B.A. in history, Whitworth became the first head coach of the University of Saint Mary (Ks.) women's lacrosse program where she subsequently coached for the past two seasons.

Whitworth now returns to Southern Virginia as the third head women's lacrosse coach in the program's history.
