Rob Grella has been named the new head women's lacrosse coach at Dominican College of Blauvelt as announced by Director of Athletics, Joseph S. Clinton.

Grella becomes the fourth head coach of the program, replacing Jim Drivas who resigned in May.

"We are very excited to have Rob as our new women's lacrosse coach," Clinton said. "His immense experience, knowledge and love for not only the sport, but for everything involved in coaching made him the ideal candidate for the position."

Most recently, Grella was the head varsity girls lacrosse coach at Shore Regional High School and is also the director of operations for the Team 91 NJ Girls Lacrosse Program.

"I could not be more excited to be apart of the Dominican family," said Grella. "I would like to thank to the Dominican College Athletic Administrators for giving me this opportunity. The future is very bright for the women's lacrosse team."

Prior to that he spent four years at Middletown High School South as the head varsity boys lacrosse coach where they won the Public A-North Conference Championship in 2018 and 2019.

Grella began his collegiate coaching career at his alma mater where he spent three years at the helm of one of the top Division II programs in the country. In his time there, the Panthers made three consecutive appearances in the NCAA Division II Tournament, earned a spot in the Final Four in 2013 and won the team's sixth NCAA Division II National Championship in 2014.

His coaching career began in 2007 as he was the head varsity girls lacrosse coach at Summit High School. During his time there, his teams won three Union County Championships and were a three-time New Jersey State Sectional Finalists in 2009, 2010, 2011.

Among his honors received, Grella was named the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Coach of the Year and the U.S. Lacrosse Magazine Women's Coach of the Year in 2014. He was also a two-time Union County Girls Lacrosse Coach of the Year and a Union County Boys Soccer Coach of the Year.

A graduate of Adelphi University, Grella was a four-year member of the men's lacrosse team and a two-time First-Team All-American selection. He was inducted into the Adelphi University Hall of Fame in 2010.
