Ryan Merrick
Recruit Profile
Diverse face-off midfielder; tenacious at the face-off X, an affinity for crazy fast outside shooting. Groundball hog. Driven and passionate about getting better every second on and off the field.
I started playing lacrosse at 11 years old, much later than most top players, but fell in love with the sport the second I picked up a stick. Since then, I don't think there has been a day when a lacrosse stick has not been in my hands.
Nothing excites me more than getting an opportunity to score right off an opening face-off and create intense momentum for our team immediately. I work hard to increase my face-off strategy, technique and win percentage as well as my shot speed and accuracy. I've built a strong passion for distance running so I can run for miles and have increased my speed and agility immensely in the past few years. I am the 2nd fastest shot and 2nd highest scorer on my club team and achieved a 76% face-off win percent in the summer 2021 season and 80+% spring of 2022.
I am a playmaker and my split dodge from up top is hard to counter by any defender and goalie when I unleash a 85mph shot aimed at the back of the cage.
I attend a highly ranked Academic High school (top 50 in the nation) and take the highest courses offered for my grade level and will graduate in 2024 with an international baccalaureate diploma.
My extra curricular activities include being a firefighter for the West Bradford Fire Department, I am head of marketing at 3TinyBones, head of business for my schools academic competition club, and am involved in various school clubs.
I am the oldest child to my mother Katie and and father Jason and the oldest brother to Jeffrey and Emily. I attend St. Josephs Catholic Church in Downingtown PA and am very family and community oriented.

Will Loftin
Ryan has been a 2 year starter for me at Downingtown West. His leadership, drive and passion set him apart from other players. He is a student of the game and always learning/trying new techniques as a first line midfielder and face off specialist. In the 2022 season, Ryan was unanimously voted as a captain. He strives to make the team better every day by holding the team accountable. He has made huge progress from year one to year two and has still not hit his full potential. Ryan has a very bright future ahead.
