Ryland Luciano is in his first season as an assistant coach with the women's lacrosse program at UVA Wise.

Luciano brings a wealth of coaching experience to the program, having worked in various schools and environments during his career.

"I'm very excited to have Ryland join our staff; his commitment to the game of women's lacrosse as well as to the student-athletes wellbeing will fit in great with what our program is about," remarked Coach Meghan Dennehy after his hiring. "He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience that will help us continue on the path to success in the South Atlantic Conference."

A graduate of Edinboro University, Luciano played club lacrosse during his collegiate days. Serving as team captain, he led the team to its first-ever National Collegiate Lacrosse League playoff appearance as a junior.

Luciano began his coaching career at Edinboro where he served as an assistant coach for the women's lacrosse team for two seasons. He then moved to Maine Maritime Academy, serving as an assistant coach for one season before spending the following summer in Hamburg, Germany. In Germany, Luciano was the head coach for Harvestehuder, and he guided the team to a 10-2 record in league play.

Upon returning to the states in the summer of 2019, he served as a graduate assistant at Ausburg University (Minn.) while pursuing a master's degree in leadership.
