Profile
Sam Herman enters her second season as a member of the Hartford women's lacrosse team's coaching staff in 2021.

A standout lacrosse player at High Point University, Herman was brought on board as an assistant coach in August 2019.

Hartford showed significant improvement on the draw circle in Herman’s first season, which was limited to just seven games due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Hawks won 47.3 percent of their draw controls, which was a 10 percent improvement from the previous season.

Herman enjoyed a record-breaking career as a four-year member of the women’s lacrosse team at High Point University from 2016-19. She graduated as the program’s record holder for single-season and career draw controls, registering 79 and 228, respectively. She is also ranked third all-time in ground balls with 135 and fourth in caused turnovers with 93.

In addition to her outstanding success on the draw, Herman, who led the Panthers to three consecutive Big South Championships in 2017, 2018 and 2019, concluded her career with 107 points on 91 goals and 16 assists.

Capping off her career by earning a pair of All-Big South First Team honors in her junior and senior seasons, Herman was also selected to the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Senior All-Star Game. A two-time Big South All-Tournament Team member in 2016 and 2018, she served as team captain for the Panthers during her senior season.

In addition to her collegiate playing experience, Herman also served as an assistant coach with the Elite Lacrosse Club in Bel Air, Md., for vive years. Her responsibilities included organizing practices, conditioning and game plans, developing individual skills and teaching the draw to her players.

She has also held similar roles at the Panther Lacrosse Club in High Point, N.C, and TYLA Honeybees Lacrosse in Greensboro, N.C., where she worked with players at both the elementary and middle school levels.

Herman graduated from High Point University in 2019 with a degree in exercise science.
