He played 1 season at MSOE, where he played in 11 games, had 2 wins, 45 saves, 51.7 save percentage, and 8.06 goals-against average before transferring to UD in 2017, where he was a three-year player for the Spartans lacrosse team. In 30 games at UD, Sam had 1 goal, 5 wins, 199 saves, 56.7 save percentage, and 9.15 goals-against average with the Spartans.

Sam was named to the CCIW’s All-Academic Team in 2018 and named to the Dean’s List in the fall semester of 2017. Sam graduated from UD in May of 2019 with his bachelor’s degree in Sports Marketing & Management. He will be pursuing his master’s degree in sports management while at the University of Dubuque.
