Scott Barnard is in his eighth year as the head men's lacrosse coach at Hamilton College. Barnard has a 53-46 record at Hamilton and he has guided the Continentals to four straight winning seasons. His players have received 25 all-conference honors, including three on the NESCAC all-conference team in 2013. Jon Leanos '12 was a first team All-America selection, the NESCAC player of the year and an Eastern College Athletic Conference Division III New England all-star in 2012. In 2013, Barnard helped lead Hamilton to the NESCAC championship quarterfinals for the second year in a row. The Continentals ended up 9-6 overall and tied for fifth place in the conference standings with a record of 5-5. Mike Fiacco '13 became the third Hamilton player in two years to appear in the U.S. Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) Division III Senior North-South Game and was the second player with USILA scholar All-America team honors under Barnard. Six players made the NESCAC spring all-academic team. In 2012, the Continentals won eight of their last nine games en route to a 9-6 record, including 5-5 in the conference. Hamilton defeated two ranked teams, and seven student-athletes made the NESCAC spring all-academic team. In 2011, Barnard guided Hamilton to an 11-3 record, including 7-1 at home. The 11 wins were the most for the Continentals since 2006. His team performs several acts of community service every year. Corbin Brown '11 formed Hamilton Against Hunger, which donates food not used by campus dining halls to a shelter in Utica. Barnard was the head coach at Herkimer County Community College (HCCC) from 2004 to 2006. He won national championships as a head coach, assistant coach and player at the National Junior College Association of America Division III school located in nearby Herkimer. Barnard guided HCCC to a national title in 2005 and the national championship game in 2004. His record was a sparkling 46-7 (.868 win pct.) as a head coach. He was an assistant at the school from 1996 to 2003 and helped HCCC win a Division III crown in 2003. Barnard coached at SUNY Cortland for two years prior to returning to Herkimer in August 1996. Barnard was a captain on the 1992 Herkimer squad that went undefeated and won a national championship. He was a two-time NJCAA academic All-American at HCCC in 1991 and 1992.
