Profile
Sean Doyle has started his first year as an assistant coach of University of Utah. He was previously with Robert Morris University

"I am extremely excited to add Sean to our staff and welcome him back as a Colonial," said head coach Andrew McMinn. "He displayed an unparalleled work ethic as a player and has since shown exactly that as a coach. He proved himself very quickly at VMI in taking on a lot of responsibilities and developing under Coach Brisner. Additionally, culture is of the utmost importance to our program and Sean is someone who understands the Colonial way and who we want to be. I am very confident that he will be invaluable to the program."

"I would like to thank Coach McMinn for giving me this opportunity," said Doyle. "I am grateful to be back with the Colonial family. This program has come a long way and I am excited to be a part of its continued success."

RMU went 4-2 in the abbreviated 2020 campaign, which was cut short after six games due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Colonials defeated Canisius on the road, 22-10, to open the season, and finished the year with consecutive wins against High Point (15-11), Detroit Mercy (16-13), and Marquette (11-10).

Doyle spent the 2019 season as the defensive coordinator for Virginia Military Institute (VMI). Under his watch, two-time All-Southern Conference First Team defender Kyle Walsh finished as the national runner-up in caused turnovers per game (3.23), with 42 coming over 13 contests. The Keydets ranked sixth nationally in that department as a team, forcing 10.62 per game.

The Owings, Md. product played in 60 games over four seasons at Robert Morris, compiling 15 points (10g, 5a) offensively and 47 groundballs and 23 caused turnovers defensively. Doyle served as a team captain of the 2018 Colonials, which won a program-record 13 games and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the first time. He finished his collegiate career by participating in the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) Senior All-Star Game, making him one of 10 RMU players to do so since 2008.

Off the field, Doyle was a four-year Dean's List recipient, made both the Northeast Conference (NEC) Academic and Commissioner's Honor Roll, and served as a board member of RMU's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).

Doyle graduated from Robert Morris in 2018 with a Bachelor's degree in business management.
