Sean Murphy
Recruit Profile
Student of the game who always strives to learn, teach and improve. Dual sport varsity athlete throughout high school.
I have been playing hockey and lacrosse since I was about 7-8 years old both in the town leagues and club teams. I became a full time attack when I started playing for the Penguins and have been one of the top scorers every season. Currently I am a junior at Medway High School and have been a varsity player in both hockey and lacrosse since I was a freshmen. Our hockey team and lacrosse teams have made the state tournament every year. One example of how I learned to deal with different situations that come up in sports is after playing defense in hockey through my freshmen year, I realized that the team had a need for someone on offense that would get in the corners and work hard every shift. So I spoke with the coaches and convinced them to give me a try. Although I was out of position and had a lot to learn, I not only got moved to offense but I finished my sophomore year playing on the first line and getting two goals in the playoffs. I was also awarded most improved player by the coaches. In lacrosse, I have played attack since picking up the sport and I am very comfortable working from x, where I have the ability to dodge either side or look to feed our cutters inside. My size and ability to use both hands makes me effective inside also. As a junior this year, I lead the team in goals and I am in the top 5 in our league overall earning league All Star-honorable mention. I had 70 goals and 38 assists in the 17 game season. I have been volunteering with the youth lacrosse program in town for a few years and enjoy helping the young kids learn the sport.
