Sophia Claps
Recruit Profile
Quick first step; multi-sport athlete with a strong Lax IQ; precise shooting and passing
Lacrosse has been a passion of mine ever since I picked up a stick at the age of 5. My participation in Varsity Field Hockey has contributed to my strong field vision and high lacrosse IQ. I pride myself on being an ultimate team player, and I'm equally as happy with an assist as I am with scoring a goal. My strengths are my speed, quick first step, shot diversity, and ability to create separation from my defender when dodging. I also have experience at midfield, which has made me a more versatile attacker and has strengthened my re-defending, which has become one of my favorite aspects of the game. I am a very coachable player, and am always striving to improve my game and make my teammates stronger.
I received an academic merit scholarship freshman year from the Oak Knoll School in Summit, New Jersey, and am currently enrolled in one AP class and 2 Honors classes. I'm presently maintaining a 4.1 GPA. In addition to lacrosse, I am on the Varsity field hockey team. I am a member of the French Club, Technology Club, and Wounded Warriors club, which raises money to donate to local veterans' shelters. Being a member of these clubs has taught me the essential values of teamwork and cooperation. I volunteer at my church and am an active member in our Bridges program that organizes food and essential item drives.
