Sydney Hoggard
Recruit Profile
Coachable, team leader and player with speed and strong LAX IQ - disciplined, determined and aggressive multi-sport athlete
I played a variety of sports growing up, including soccer, field hockey, gymnastics and swimming. Not until my freshman year of high school did I first try lacrosse. I quickly fell in love with the sport and hope to play in college. As a freshman, I earned a spot on varsity. Then, in a shortened sophomore season (due to COVID-19), I became the team's primary draw person and midfielder. As a junior, I led the team in goals, draw control, ground balls and caused turnovers. In school, I am in Model United Nations, carry a 4.33 weighted/4.0 unweighted GPA and am a Congressional Award Gold Medalist. I also play field hockey and in my spare time I enjoy time with friends, hiking, running, wake surfing (summer) and eating frozen yogurt.

Sydney is an extremely coachable, hard-working and talented player. Great size and speed, very confident on the ball and strong on both ends of the field. She is an asset at the draw, and has a powerful, accurate shot. As an athlete who only picked up the sport her freshman year of HS and is now one of the top players in Orange County, she has a huge upward trajectory in front of her!
Matthew Mackrides
Sydney has great ability with both hands and excellent first step in dodging. Her shooting technique is very fundamental and she is able to generate a lot of power towards the cage (with both hands). Work ethic is extremely high: I.e. she traveled for a shooting/dodging session across the country, prior to a tournament in order to prepare herself better for competition the following day. Someone who seeks ways to get better beyond what their peers do always will surpass their peers and become the best at their sport/position. Pupils like Sydney; who listen and then apply teaching points are a pleasure to work with. I highly recommend keeping an eye on Sydney for the class of ‘22. - Matt Mackrides - Owner, Blue Ox Lacrosse
