Profile
Jacksonville University men's lacrosse has added more All-American talent to its coaching ranks with the hiring of Tyler Granelli as an assistant coach.

"I am beyond thrilled to welcome Tyler to the Jacksonville University family," said Galloway. "I had the pleasure of interviewing a number of qualified candidates, but I knew right when I left with Tyler that he was the type of person that I want to go to battle with. Tyler's playing resume is impressive, but what stood out was his commitment to mentoring our student-athletes beyond the lacrosse field.

"X's and O's is easy. Being willing to invest in a young man and their well-being is what separates Tyler from the pack. With Coach Granelli and Coach Liebel, I firmly believe we now have a staff that will relentlessly pursue excellence in all facets of our program."

Granelli joins the Dolphin family from Florida Southern, where he spent the 2016 season as an assistant coach in charge of recruiting and offense. He also served as an assistant coach for the South Team at the 2017 United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) DI & DII North/South Game.

Granelli brings a wealth of national championship experience to JU as a player and coach, having won three Division III National Titles as a player (2009, 2011, and 2012) and one as a graduate assistant coach at his alma mater, Salisbury (2016).

During his time as a graduate assistant at SU, the Sea Gulls went 40-6 and had 16 USILA All-American selections.

Granelli had an outstanding career as a player at Salisbury and helped the Gulls to a 61-7 record, including a perfect 23-0 season in 2012, en route to a pair of National Championships in 2011 and 2012. He earned All-American honors his sophomore, junior, and senior years and finished his career with 426 ground balls and a 64.9 face-off win percentage (689-1,061). Granelli was also a three-time All-Capital Athletic Conference selection.

Following his playing career, Granelli spent the 2014 season as an assistant coach at Randolph-Macon College. He also served as director and coach of several lacrosse clubs in Maryland, New York, and Virginia.

A native of North Salem, N.Y., Granelli was a US Lacrosse High School All-American at John Jay High School in 2008.

He earned his bachelor's degree in communication arts, athletic coaching, and new media art from Salisbury in 2013 and continued his education, receiving his masters of education in 2016.
