My name is Tyson Montoyo. I began my lacrosse journey 6 years ago but found my niche playing goalie 3 years ago when I was in 8th grade. I originally found lacrosse in 2nd grade through a weekend development camp, but lost track of it when the program closed. After a few years of being focused on playing little league baseball with my friends, I found a youth lacrosse team in my area and have never looked back

I play for a club team in Tucson, Arizona, called The Catalina Foothills Falcons. This past season I began playing Varsity and finished the season with a 68.8% save percentage in the games I played. I see the field very well and have composure outside the crease. I always strive to do my very best and be encouraging to my teammates. I am very coachable and open to all instruction that will help me and the team get better.

I have a unique perspective because I am the son of a professional athlete/coach. By having a behind the scenes view, I have been able to see what hard work and proper preparation can mean to a team. I have been raised to understand that talent is not enough and hard work. respect, and giving your all are the cornerstones to a successful season. I have been given the opportunity to be able to attend camps and summer programs of all levels during the summers depending on where my family is based. This past summer I worked with the coaches from the Hill Academy in Toronto and am excited to use the things I learned on the field this season.

I am searching for a college/university where I can succeed as a student athlete while pursuing a degree in Engineering. I hope to find a school where my leadership skills on the field can be used and refocused in the classroom. I want to challenge myself non and off the field. Ultimately, I want to find the best fit educationally with the highest level of competition
