Cullen was a member of four of the six straight North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Championships won under Coach Fink at former Mount Ida College in Newton Mass., between 2004 and 2009. He captained two of them, and made two NCAA Tournament appearances, before graduating in 2008 with a Degree in Sports Management.

Cullen went on to coach at North Haven High School in 2010, leading the Indians to their first-ever playoff appearance. He was also a volunteer assistant at the University of Hartford in 2011-12 when the Hawks won their first conference championship, and made their first NCAA Tournament appearance. He spent the last five years coaching the Connecticut Titans travel team out of West Hartford Conn.
