Tom Compitello

Profile
Tom Compitello came back to Yale as its offensive coordinator in the summer of 2019.

Compitello, a former Stony Brook All-American attackman who has been an assistant coach at four different schools, was a volunteer assistant for the Bulldogs’ 2018 national championship team before becoming an offensive and goalie coach at Lehigh.

Compitello helped Lehigh reach the 2019 Patriot League Championship game. In his eight years as a collegiate coach, Compitello has seen five championships, including four conference and the 2018 NCAA title with the Bulldogs. Including his time as a player, Compitello’s teams have advanced to a conference championship game in nine of the last 11 years.

An assistant at Bryant University from 2015 to 2017, he was the offensive coordinator and also worked with goalies. He mentored the program's all-time leader in saves, Gunnar Waldt, who helped the team to an 8.53 goals per game mark in 2016.

Prior to his stint in Smithfield, R.I., Compitello spent a year as offensive coordinator at Sacred Heart University, where he also designed the offense’s off-season training program and was responsible for film exchange and breakdown. He also acted as the recruiting coordinator for the Pioneers, who had two first-team All-NEC players under Compitello.

He spent two seasons as a volunteer assistant at Lehigh University, acting as assistant offensive coordinator for the two-time league champs and NCAA Tournament team. He also assisted with the man-up unit and film breakdown while being involved in all game planning. The Mountain Hawks led the nation in extra-man efficiency in 2012 with a .542 mark.

Compitello, who has been working with Dynamic Lacrosse Training since 2010, entered the coaching ranks after a successful playing career (68 goals, 146 points) at Stony Brook University from 2007-11. He was captain as a senior after helping the Seawolves win an America East Championship in 2010. He was a USILA All-America as a junior and a 2010 and 2011 first-team all-conference pick.

He also got the job done off the field. Compitello, who earned his Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training, was an Academic All-American who was drafted 28th overall (fifth round) by the Boston Cannons in the 2011 Major League Lacrosse draft.
