Coach's Description
Welcome to the Indiana University Men's Lacrosse website. Over the last two seasons, the coaching staff and players have worked hard to transition the culture of the program from "club team" to "virtual varsity." We consider ourselves to a club program in name only. Because of the cost to join the program, we make every effort to ensure we're putting a high quality product on the field. This requires sacrifices from the players and parents on a daily basis. The school doesn't allow us to make cuts during tryouts. Instead we have evaluations to determine our travel roster. The last two seasons we haven't had enough players in the program to have a practice and travel roster meaning everyone traveled. Even with our large incoming class we surmise we will be able to travel with everyone which is our goal. In the event of a committed roster over 50 players, we will be forced to have a travel roster and practice roster. Our fall ball is 4 days a week end of August to end of October. We'll be practicing during the week and scrimmaging at least two weekends with one road trip mixed in. We're off the field November to December but will be working out and having study tables twice a week. The season kicks off a week after winter break with late night practices January to mid March. These practices run from 10-11:30 or 11:30-1. The first few practices are difficult for everyone and then we adapt. Following spring break we are outside for 4 nights a week. Games are every weekend, except Little 5, beginning in February. We will travel over spring break. Players who fail to attend practices for any reason other than taking an exam will lose playing time. Most players cannot balance pledging a fraternity and playing lacrosse.
Team Road Trips
Most road games for Indiana are scheduled for the Illinois, Indiana, and Ohio areas against teams including Purdue, Illinois, Illinois State, and Miami of Ohio. The team has also traveled to Columbia, Missouri to play the University of Missouri and Tallahassee, Florida to take on Florida State. Other trips have included St. Paul, Minnesota where they played Minnesota-Duluth and St. Cloud State.
