Maria Donahue
Recruit Profile
Coachable, high work rate midfielder with strong Lax IQ and team 1st attitude; Accomplished three-sport athlete; Disciplined, Highest Honor Roll, AP/Honors Student, and National Honor Society member.
As soon as I picked up a stick and stepped on the lacrosse field when I was 9, I fell in love with the sport and quickly realized that it is something I want to continue throughout college. Playing lacrosse in college would be an amazing opportunity and a dream come true for me.
I have developed great stick skills using both of my hands, and I am never hesitant to switch hands while playing. l also have excellent speed that I use often to my advantage in games. Additionally, I am a team player and understand the importance of working together with my teammates on the field. I always first look towards the team’s gain rather than my own. If a better opportunity to score is available for one of my teammates, I will not hesitate to pass it off. I’m also very hard-working and coachable. I will always attend practices, games, and any other additional workouts and put in my best effort, as well as immediately apply advice from coaches to my play.
In school, I am a straight A student and currently have a 4.6 GPA that I study hard for to maintain. I am also a member of the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) and the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF), and also volunteer for my local youth lacrosse and soccer programs.
School is just as important to me as lacrosse is, which is why I want to attend a college that will challenge me in both athletics and academics. I want to be able to play at the highest level possible while also gaining my education in an academic program that suits me and make my family, friends, and myself proud.
Here's what my coaches have said about me:
"You are a very strong athlete and lacrosse player. You have a great lacrosse IQ and vision of the field. You are a true midfielder. You were dependable and consistent when we needed you to step up on the field, being able to perform under pressure and be "clutch" is an AWESOME quality to have. I can put you anywhere on the field and you are going to be a difference maker. You continue to make great decisions from pushing the fast break, to hedging defensively and never giving up on the back check."
“You have an extremely strong work ethic, are hungry to get better, you ask questions to try to improve and you have awesome athleticism.”
