Alec Delgado
Recruit Profile
Highly coachable team player with high game IQ, driven by a passion for learning and my desire to play at the next level.
My name is Alec Delgado, Im a junior at Delbarton School in NJ. I started playing lacrosse at 7, splitting time between attack and goalie until I was 13. In 6th grade, I moved to goalie full time and I also started to play for a Canadian box lacrosse team coached by Ryan Boyle and Mitch Belisle, playing up with 7/8th graders. I still play box - it helps my field game by teaching me how to play angles and how to stay patient in-tight. Some of my strengths as a goalie are being patient, initiating transition, and commanding the defense. Defensive philosophy has always come naturally to me, no matter the sport. I was the defensive captain for both my middle school and rec football team for 5 years. My coaches and teammates would describe me as a driven and competitive leader both on and off the field. I am always working on my game individually and with support from D1 and professional players such as Adam Charalambides and the Kirst brothers. I have recently focused on the mental aspect of my game and I have found immediate success. I am a Trilogy ICE invitee (2021-22), an Apex 350 invitee (2021-22), and was selected to the Mark Millon ECD All-Showcase Team (2022).
Academically I have a 4.03/4.33 weighted GPA along with 3 completed AP courses by the end of my Junior year (AP English Language, AP English Literature, AP Calculus AB). I have been on the Headmasters List (Top 5% of students) both my Freshman and Sophomore years while earning highest honors or high honors for each semester. My goal has always been to play lacrosse in college while studying finance or economics.

I write this note on behalf of Alec Delgado. I’ve worked with Alec consistently for the past 5 years, dating back to early 2018. It’s been a pleasure watching the growth of his game. Alec is a lax rat, and is process oriented. His consistent drive to improve and fundamental focus will allow his game to improve year after year. As a goaltender, he is a vocal leader on the field, he is calm in his stance, and explosive to the ball. He embraces the challenge of facing a professional shooter, and our training sessions are always intense. I appreciate the insightful questions he asks, and impressed by his understanding of deception from the goalie and shooter perspective. Excited to see where Alec ends up. All the best, Adam Charalambides - 2nd year Pro for Vancouver Warriors (NLL) - Rutgers University 21'

Alec Delgado is a talented goaltender who has maturity and poise beyond his years. His confident positioning and elite hand speed stand out to the naked eye, but that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Working with Alec, I’ve witnessed him accept and implement coaching seamlessly. He is not satisfied with his innate abilities, and actively seeks to improve via his analytical approach to the position. Alec has very little wasted movement or bad habits. There’s no nonsense in his game. The word that comes to mind is ‘Efficient’. He’s a competitor. His attitude and approach to the position, coupled with his already polished and efficient skill set make him a very intriguing college prospect in my opinion. He is a high level, college ready ball stopper who will only get better for years to come.

A note in behalf of Alec Delgado… I have had the pleasure of working with Alec for several years now. As his goaltending coach I have seen Alec develop into a great young player. He has elite level tracking, no guessing in his game. Combined with patience, he is confident on his line. Lastly, hand speed, he drives his top hand to the ball. Even more specifically I have had the opportunity to work with Alec as a field goaltender and as a box goaltender. This challenge alone working in two different goaltending worlds gives Alec an advantage both in the pipes as a stopper and as a student of the game. I would ask him to lead my defense anytime. Sincerely, -Chris Collins PLL - Redwoods Lacrosse Club Defensive Coordinator & Goaltending Coach
