Alex Sewell is currently the James M. Bennett High School (JMB) Senior Class President and has also served as Class President for the past two years. He is a member of the National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, JMB’s Varsity and Junior Varsity Math Teams, the Honors Marching and Symphonic Band where he played the tuba for three years and is a starter and Captain for JMB’s Varsity Lacrosse Team. Alex is one of 22 students selected county-wide for the Project Lead the Way Engineering Program.

Alex was awarded the Carson Scholars Award and Scholarship in 2019 and was selected the Ambassador to represent JMB at the 2018 Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership at Mount St. Mary’s University. Alex was also awarded the Society of American Military Engineers Scholarship to attend the U.S. Air Force Academy’s STEM Engineering and Construction program in 2018.

He is a 2017 graduate of the Young Entrepreneurs Academy and won First Place in the Young Entrepreneurs Academy Investor Competition for his business idea and advanced to the National Competition at Rochester Institute of Technology. He is an Optimist International Oratorical Contest Finalist and Nominee for two years and was awarded the Minds in Motion Scholar Athlete Award for the past three years.

Alex was awarded the Varsity Lacrosse Academic All-American in 2019 and First and Second Teams All-Bayside South Conference for the past three seasons. He was selected as a Maverik National High School Lacrosse All-American and numerous national and All-Star lacrosse teams. In addition to playing for JMB’s Varsity Lacrosse team for three years, he also plays for Kooper’s Lacrosse Club in Baltimore, Maryland for four years.

Alex plans to pursue a degree in mechanical engineering.
