During her time as an assistant, Deshaies helped start the varsity women's lacrosse program at Bangor High School and worked with attack and goalkeepers at Husson.

A 2018 graduate of Husson, Deshaies earned a bachelor of science in psychology and a master of business administration from Husson in 2020. A four-year letter-winner and team captain with the women's program. Deshaies was a three-time NAC All-Conference selection and the programs record holder for career goals, points and ground balls.
