Andrew Spradley
Recruit Profile
Decisive aggressive defender. During play breaks down offense, and leads the defense. Vocal. Disciplined and coachable. Team player. Always ready.
I started playing lacrosse at age 9 and moved to goalie at age 10. I love the position and I'm always ready to be there for my defense and team. Since the 7th grade I started playing year around.
I play club for NCF Triad Elite 2023 Red team. Ira Vanterpool is my head coach. His experience and leadership have been really important to me. For mid/late summer I also played with the Southern Stars 2023 a new national team based in NC.
Both programs participate the highest level tournaments. Our 2021 NCF Red Team Season included: the Freedom Cup (NC), Project South (Atl), Crabfeast (MD) and Inside Lacrosse Session One (DE). For Southern Stars 2023, we played in the Sirius Midsummer event and Pinnacle Lacrosse Champions. For additional training when possible, I attend Goaliesmith led by Andrew and Mike Gvozden.
In school I play for Northern Guilford High School in Greensboro, NC. My junior year will be my 2nd year on varsity. I'm super excited about the 2021 and 2022 season. Go Nighthawks!
I've always been a strong student particularly in math and science. As of my sophomore year I've taken 3 AP classes. I'm scheduled to take 2 AP classes this coming year. My cumulative weighted GPA is 3.83. In college I plan to study science and math or business. The summer of 2021 I have gotten a job as an elementary math tutor with Guilford County Schools.
In high school I've become very involved with Young Life, a youth for Christ group. My friends and I are focused on growing the number of kids that participate in my high school. I am an active youth member of Guilford Park Presbyterian Church in Greensboro, NC. I go on mission trips and volunteer there.
Before COVID, each winter I would play rec basketball team with some of my lacrosse buddies. I wrestled in middle school. I love to fish whether it's fly fishing in the NC mountains, or on a lake somewhere. Since last Spring, I've learned to play golf and look for time to play any chance I get. My low round so far is 82, but I'm getting that score down lower and lower.
