Austin Jones

Recruit Profile
I like to think of myself as the on field coach, the extra guy who holds it down and makes sure everything is running as smoothly and efficiently as possible. I think that’s why I enjoy being a goalie so much, I am the quarterback of everything that happens in my end, and I control my guys and the pace of the game. I always feel in control!

I am Austin Jones and I am a graduate of Holy Trinity Catholic secondary school. I also attended Bridgton Academy for a post secondary year. I am a responsible and motivated student. I finish all of my work to the best of my ability and on time! I will admit my high school transcripts weren’t the most impressive marks in the world.. Tho I believe that grades do not reflect a person's full intelligence. I have always had good common sense and school-smarts, but in high school I did not apply myself the way I should have. I slacked off and didn't capitalize on my four years of education and by the time I realized the place I had put myself, it was too late. So, If you are willing to look past my unappealing high school performance you'll see that since high school and going to Bridgton Academy for my post grad year I have come out a new man! I maintained just above a 3.0 GPA, while juggling my classes, volunteering when i could, and two prep level sports.. Furhtermore I managed to get honors in academic achievement and pre calculus honors in academic achievement and effort. I am looking forward to playing College lacrosse, but I also need to be sure I attend the right school. Somewhere I will thrive academically and athletically in a school with an open and welcoming atmosphere, as well as where I will get a great education. I would like to study either Business or venture into the marketing field! I am open to different types of colleges and university’s . My choice will primarily depend on whether or not they have the major I'm looking for, involved staff/teachers, coaches and a good reputation.

My sporting career has been well-rounded most my life, which I think has greatly helped me as an athelete and as a person. I play hockey, have played soccer through most of my childhood and have always been super active. I Wakeboarded, kneboarded have done about every water sport imaginable, I snowboard, ski, have skydived before and I have golfed since I was a kid. Although I wasn’t as fortunate to have high school sports in my first two years of high school I firmly believe I more than made up for it in my last two years with grade 11 having me play varsity hockey and lacrosse in one tournament, and in my senior years I played the same thing, and started in net for my highschool team to go on to win the AA OFSAA Championchip that Year!

I have a pretty high lacrosse IQ in my opinion and I have good vision of the field. I am a confident and explosive goalie with lightning quick hands. I lead my team with positivity and loud talk! Which as a goalie serves me well, I can observe everything from the goal, and I am a crucial part of every aspect on the field as I lead my team, calling out patterns, slides, defensive plays, etc. Either that or something about getting 100 mph rubber lacrosse balls whipped at me seems appealing aha! I am a good listener and can adjust my game according to what my Coach may ask me to do. I firmly believe my one ace in the hole if you will, on field asides from being directly in cage, is my ball and stick handling skills outside the crease. That as well as my comfortability and ability to run the ball up field compared to many goalies. I am competitive but I always show good sportsmanship, most importantly, I have the upmost respect for the other team, my players and my coaches.

I thank you for reading and taking interest in me and I hope to hear from you soon!
