Rebecca Lane is in her first season as an assistant coach on the Tribe’s staff.

A native of Melbourne, Australia, Lane comes to Williamsburg following an impressive playing career that included performing on the international stage as a member of the Senior Australian Women’s Lacrosse Team from 2017-22. She served as a co-captain on the bronze medal winning squad at the 2022 World Games and helped the team place fourth at the 2022 World Lacrosse Championships. Her efforts also helped the team garner the bronze medal at the 2017 World Games and a fourth-place finish at the 2017 FIL World Cup.

Additionally, Lane competed with the U19 Australian Women’s Lacrosse Team in 2011 and 2015. As a co-captain of the squad in 2015, she was selected to the All-World Team and earned multiple game MVP honors. She also helped the team to silver medal at the 2011 FIL World Cup.

Lane began her coaching career at her alma mater, Saint Joseph’s University, where she served two seasons as a student assistant coach. With her guidance, the Hawks compiled a 14-10 record, which included a 6-2 mark in the Atlantic 10 in 2021.

Prior to joining the Hawks’ coaching staff, Lane established herself as one of the greatest players in SJU history. A two-time Atlantic 10 all-conference selection, she finished her career as the program’s all-time record holder for assists (84). Additionally, Lane is one of just two players in school history to total more than 200 points, which included 125 goals – an impressive figure that ranks fifth all-time at SJU.

The two-time team captain led the Hawks to four consecutive A-10 postseason appearances from 2016-19 and was honored as the A-10 Rookie of the Year following a tremendous rookie campaign.

Lane also excelled academically, earning an A-10 Postgraduate Scholarship for performing with distinction both in the classroom and on the field while demonstrating exemplary conduct in the community.

Lane earned an undergraduate degree in psychology and a master’s degree in writing studies at SJU.
