Bret is a strong leader for the defense who communicates and moves well in the cage. With his quick hands, passing ability, and willingness to chase balls he will get you the ball back to offensive side. As the summer season progressed he was able to improve his patience and timing to hit the mid-field during clears. Also improved greatly working with poles to progressively move the ball upfield to secure easy clears instead of trying to make home run passes.

Bret very well might have the fastest hands in the Mid-West. I have trained Bret for the last few years and have seen him grow immensely not only as a goalie but physically. At over 6' and taller than me, Bret is a presence in the cage. He uses his size, proud stance, and good fundamental positioning to his advantage...and combining those elements with his hand speed, good luck as a shooter scoring or even seeing the cage. Bret has worked diligently on getting his explosiveness to the same level as his hands. I have seen him identify and work on this aspect early which shows his dedication to excelling his game. Bret would be an asset on your team coaches, and is a true pleasure to coach.

Bret is goalie to the core. He has defined himself both on and off the field as a goalie. He works hard day in and day out, in season and out of season to improve his craft. He is a learning how to be a vocal leader on the field and lead by example. Even when sharing time with our second goalie, he looks to help the team and his teammates. We are very fortunate to have a goalie and a player like Bret. As a Junior, he still has his best lacrosse ahead of him.
