My name is Brian Winters and I am a new junior transfer to Bergen Catholic High School. My parents were both collegiate athletes and have remained engaged in youth/high school sports since I can remember. I have loved being a multisport athlete since grammar school and I have enjoyed football, basketball, baseball and lacrosse most of my life. I also love to surf.

Lacrosse has been my passion and is now my single sport focus. Sadly, the pandemic has limited my prospects for multisport participation. Although lacrosse is a very popular sport in Bergen County NJ, my hometown Demarest has been a traditional baseball town and it took a bit of work to put lacrosse on the map. My mom, a collegiate all-American in the NESCAC, was my formative coach. During our 5-year run on our town team, my mom (and my uncle Peter, a multisport athlete at Swarthmore and former MLL player) brought us to the state championship game.

As a freshman at Dwight Englewood School, I was the second leading scorer on our varsity team with over 50 points and was awarded first-team All-League honors as an attackman. I was named to the Top 50 freshmen in the state by NJ.com. I was also awarded the 2018-19 male athlete of the year at school while maintaining a 3.82 GPA with a rigorous academic schedule. I remained diligent during my sophomore year, boosting my GPA to 3.87. I recently decided to take the opportunity to further my lacrosse development while maintaining high academic standards at Bergen Catholic High School beginning in the spring semester 2021.

I love the sport of lacrosse and I am committed to playing at the college level. This is an exciting time for me and I am looking forward to meeting coaches and players who I know will help me make a great decision for the school and program that suits me best.
