C.J. Hughes joined the Lords lacrosse staff in the summer of 2021.

A native of Cincinnati, he arrived at Kenyon after spending his collegiate playing days at NCAA Division III Capital University in Bexley, Ohio. As part of the Crusaders program, Hughes was a three-time team captain who piled up career numbers that included 192 goals, 88 assists and 280 points. His assist total was an all-time record at Capital and both his goal and point totals ranked second best in program history. Additionally, he holds Capital single-season records for points (94) and assists (31).

Hughes started his coaching path in the summer of 2020, working as a coach at Headlines Lacrosse Club in Cincinnati. He’s also worked as a camp director at the Southern Ohio Shootout since 2016 and has held coaching and leadership positions with I9 Sports in Columbus, as well as held clinics and private lessons for youth and high school levels in the Bexley area.

Hughes graduated from Capital in May 2021 with a bachelor’s degree in biology and is currently working on becoming a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialists (CSCS) by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA).
