To women’s college lacrosse coaches, Are you looking for a defender that is focused and serious on the field during games and practice? Do you want a player that accepts coaching and puts the team above themselves? I’ve had the opportunity to coach Carly Llewelyn during the summers and she exemplifies the qualities coaches want in a player: 100% effort at games and practice, totally coachable and team centric. Carly is a tough defender that has the strength to steer offensive players out of the eight, demonstrates hustle to every ground ball, is fundamentally sound and has a high lacrosse IQ on the clear (uses her outside hand (right or left) and reverses to our goalie when needed). I’m certain Carly’s teammates would also provide an enthusiastic recommendation of her as she always offers them encouragement, has a positive outlook and a smile on her face. Carly is the definition of a hard-working student-athlete. She not only is a multi-sport athlete, but a student who excels in the classroom by taking multiple AP classes. On the lacrosse field, she is a solid defender who works hard on each play. She has great field awareness and recognizes when to slide appropriately. Her basketball defensive skills translate well to the lacrosse field allowing her to recognize where to position herself. She knows to be between her player and the ball and when to slide/double team. Often, Carly finds herself being the last resort on the defensive end before the goalie and she truly steps up to this challenge. She partakes in the rebounds and effectively runs the ball out of trouble. I would highly recommend her to any collegiate program.
