Taylor University athletics director, Kyle Gould, announced on June 24, 2019 that Chad Newhard had been hired as the new head coach of the TU men’s lacrosse.

Newhard spent the past three years on staff at Taylor as an assistant coach for the baseball program, helping the Trojans to a record of 117 wins to just 55 losses during that span.

Prior to coming to Upland, Newhard spent seven seasons as the head baseball coach at Indiana Wesleyan University, where he left with the second-highest win total in program history and saw two student-athletes advance to play professionally.

In addition to his coaching experiences at Taylor and IWU, Newhard has also coached collegiately at Defiance College, Tabor College, and IPFW.

Newhard owns a bachelor’s degree in sports studies from Grace College and a master’s degree in secondary education with a concentration in organizational leadership and supervision from IPFW.

Newhard and his wife, Karen, have a son, Nicholas, and a daughter, Selah, and currently reside in Marion.
