Christina Strakes
Recruit Profile
I have such a passion for lacrosse & want to be at my best all the time. Strong on-field leader with a very high lacrosse IQ and coachable. (I_know_everybody_says_that_but_I_work_hard_on_both_and_am_a_sponge_when_working_with_coaches/instructors).
I started playing at 7 and fell in love with lacrosse immediately. Started out as a midfielder, then moved to defense. Like most goalies, coach asked one day "who wants to try it?" and I never looked back. I have been playing "Elite" club level since 2017. In 2020 I earned a spot on the CT Grizzlies Navy team (2021 season). Even though it was a lot of travel, I enjoyed the team and my teammates so much. I thought we had a pretty good summer season but unfortunately I got injured in early July and was out for 4 weeks. I made UA All-American, though, for the Conny region for 2021 and was cleared to play just a few days before the event. I had to wear one of those big metal braces and even though I had been out for a few weeks, I thought I performed very well. I had a .547 save % and led all goalies in the Command Division with 9.2 saves per game avg. BUT, there is always room for improvement.
I have earned a number of honors including being selected to the UA150 for 2022 and winning the "Queen of the Cage" competition at the "inaugural" APEX Goalie Showcase in February, 2021 (Faced Orly Sedransk in the finals). In January 2022, I earned a roster spot (as a freshman) on our Varsity HS team and made Team Georgia for the US Lacrosse National Tournament Memorial Day weekend.
I am 1st chair Flute for our Symphonic Band and have a great interest in musical performance and music theory. I am also a passionate creative writer; I love to read wonderful stories and am even working on a novel of my own. As a freshman, I was awarded the Physics Honor Award (Most Outstanding student in Physics for the entire school), which I was very proud of.
I want to be the best player and teammate I can be (and hopefully one of the best 25s, as well). I know that I have to work hard, be patient and persevere. My destination is always "What's next?".
