Devon Cookson
Recruit Profile
A coachable, determined, aggressive athlete with a hard, accurate ambidextrous shot.
During my Freshmen year, at Northern Highlands, my team in the Gibbs division, made it to the semi finals for NJ Group 3 Public Schools and in 2018 we took home the state championship for Group 3 Public Schools.
Freshmen year I had an outstanding season, starting in every JV game. Towards the end I was pulled up to Varsity and finished with 12 goals and 5 assists.
For the end of my Junior season I recently switched to midfield from attack. I find that my skillset is way more useful from that position and plan to play at midfield in the Summer as well. I am a high IQ player who knows how to finish on the crease and shoot a hard 97mph, accurate shot from outside with either hand. I can dodge over the top or down the alley with either hand to try to find room to score or feed while running into or past my defensemen. I am a very studious athlete who ended my sophomore year with High Honor Roll and a 3.96 GPA, leaving me with a cumulative GPA of 3.83 from one of the most academically competitive schools in NJ. I recently earned the title of ambassador at Northern Highlands Regional High School for the coming year. An ambassador is a role model for underclassmen where a very select few are chosen. An ambassador is an extremely competitive and coveted position and I look forward to being a role model for my fellow students. I also am a member of the National Honors Society.
I also played Freshmen Football at Don Bosco Prep High School before transferring to Northern Highlands for my Spring lacrosse season. In my free time I have done community service for helping young children. I am a strong team player who plays for my team and not only for my highlight tape.
