Beth Smiley, a south Jersey native, attended Widener University, was a 4 year field hockey player and picked up lacrosse her freshman year of college (never seeing the game before). She played lacrosse for 4 years and was the team captain her senior year. Beth lived in West Chester, PA for 24 years where she developed and coached the lacrosse program for Lower Villa Maria Academy, had multiple undefeated seasons, was Assistant Varsity Coach for Villa Maria High School and then Freshman, JV and Varsity Coach for West Chester East High School. She coached many girls that continued to play in college including DI programs such as UNC, MD, JMU, William & Mary and UCONN and several of her players are now college coaches. She was a selector and coach for the HS National Lacrosse Tournament and coached for the Envy Travel League for several years. Beth also helped develop the West Chester Girls k-8 Youth Lacrosse League and coached and ran the league until she moved to Charleston in 2017 with her husband and 2 daughters. When Beth moved here, she joined the Fins Travel team, coached HS, MS and helped players with College Lacrosse Guidance. In September 2019, Beth was named Philip Simmons High School Girl's Lacrosse Coach - the school's first ever lacrosse program. The following year Beth ran the First Varsity Team and the JV program. The Fins travel team is now Palmetto Lacrosse and Beth coaches the 2025/2026 team and coaches the PolarBear league. Beth has coached the spring season and summer camps for the local rec leagues. She also coaches the local GROM league and runs the enrichment Lil' Laxers lacrosse program at Daniel Island Academy. Beth is in her 30th year of coaching and is thrilled to help develop and cultivate lacrosse in the Charleston area!
