GianLuca Lockhart
Recruit Profile
Coachable; Hard working; Multi sport athlete; Maintains High GPA; Strong lacrosse IQ; Great open field speed
After my first lacrosse season in fourth grade I was puzzled as to why I hadn’t started sooner. The fast pace, the running, and the required decisiveness - it was easy to apply my soccer skill set to lacrosse to become a proficient player. My strong work ethic, open field speed, field vision and ability to make quick decisions gave me an edge over other players and enhanced my ability as a midfielder and attackman. I quickly honed my skills and started to cement my ability to switch hands with ease. Now preparing for my Sophomore season and continuing to start for my Varsity team. Finished my Freshman year with an unweighted 3.75 honors track.

When I play college lacrosse I plan to make the entire team better. As the captain of my U13 and U15 youth teams, I was successful in running the offense, running warm-ups and leading sprints at the end of practice, often after the coaches left. Furthermore, at the U15 level, I lead my teams in goals, ground balls and assists. Despite all of that, one of the things I enjoyed most was creating a positive team environment with strong leadership, encouraging new players to take risks and keep working. I fully intend to bring these characteristics to my college lacrosse program: grit, perseverance and teamwork will drive any team to success.

In my community I volunteer frequently: summers since 2014 I volunteer as a teacher and teacher’s aid at my church in a week long CCD with elementary age children; I helped the youth girls lacrosse program develop a 3v3 in 2015; and I also helped my town create a farmer’s market in the summer of 2016.

One thing I pride myself in is that I challenge myself academically. I am enrolled in honors classes in a variety of disciplines and am currently working towards a bilingual certification in Spanish. I am also active in clubs such as Interact: a community service club, and Spanish Club.
