Griffin Stechmiller was named assistant men's lacrosse coach in June, 2021.

Stechmiller came to Mars Hill after serving as a graduate assistant coach for North Greenville during the 2021 campaign.

“I am incredibly excited to join the Mars Hill family and continue to build the lacrosse program here with Coach Storrier,” Stechmiller said. “I would like to sincerely thank Coach Storrier as well as our Director of Athletics, Rick Baker, for providing me with the opportunity to come coach this fine group of men.”

Stechmiller played his college lacrosse at Queens University where he saw tremendous success. He appeared in 69 games with 61 starts, tallying 52 points (32g, 20a) as a long-stick midfielder. His senior season in 2019 saw the Charlotte, North Carolina native record career-highs in assists (8), points (17), groundballs (85), caused turnovers (24), and faceoff wins (7).

For his standout final campaign, Stechmiller was named a United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) Warrior All-American selection, named to the South Atlantic Conference All-Tournament Team, and was an All-SAC First Team honoree. His first three seasons with the Royals saw Stechmiller named as an All-SAC Second Team selection.

“I am beyond excited to add Coach Stechmiller to our program,” head coach Brendan Storrier stated. “Griffin is an instate guy who became an All-American. He will bring new ideas to our defensive and faceoff unit that will continue our improvement as a program.”

Storrier added, “Coach Stechmiller also works with the prestigious 24/7 Lacrosse Club which will aid us in recruiting more quality young men to Mars Hill University.”
