Jacob Correia
Recruit Profile
Coachable, motivated team player. Multi-sport athlete with discipline , determination, and passion for lacrosse.
I began playing lacrosse in Albany NY at the age of 8. I've always had a strong passion for the game however, not for faceoffs. I played every position all the way through youth lacrosse. When I got to high school, I began to develop a passion for faceoffs. My JV coach also happened to be the varsity faceoff coach. He was the one who motivated me into becoming an elite faceoff specialist. 3 games into my freshman year, our star, senior fogo went down with a collarbone injury. He was commited to Roger WIlliams and was very talented. When he went down, there was only 1 other faceoff specialist on the varsity team, meaning a new backup was needed. I was asked to come up and be the backup for the varsity team, not expecting to play. However my first game was against East Lyme's biggest rival in everything, Waterford. Our new starter wasn't doing so well. I was subbed into the game in the second quarter and happened to do pretty well. From this point on I continued to get tons of varsity reps throughout the rest of the season, but never started because our faceoff specialist was a senior, and I was a freshman. I was probably a little bit better than him but not enough to justify starting a freshman over a senior. From this point on, I became dedicated to faceoffs.
I currently take AP Literature, AP Seminar, Honors Spanish, and all other A level classes. I have a 3.4 GPA that I'm working on improving. In my free time I enjoy helping out with my family's pet sitting business and playing the guitar. Im currently undecided on what I intend to do in the future but im leaning into the field of business.
