Coach Yu is entering his 3rd year as an assistant coach/goalie coach for East Grand Rapids High School. Since joining the East Grand Rapids program, he has assisted in leading the team to State Championship titles in 2019 and 2021. During that time Coach Yus goalies have earned First Team All-State honors in the 19 and 21 championship seasons.

Before moving to East Grand Rapids Coach Yu was the goalie coach at Regis University in Denver, CO (NCAA Div. II) from 2014-2017. In his first year with Regis University, Yu helped the defense earn the nations fourth best goals-against-average and Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Goalie of the Year. During his time at Regis University, Yu played a pivotal role in developing goaltenders that consistently ranked in the NCAA Top-10 in save percentage and goals-against-average. Coach Yu assisted in leading Regis University to the programs first NCAA postseason appearance in 2017.

A 2004 graduate of Indiana University, Yu was a goalkeeper for the Indiana mens club team and later an assistant coach for the womens team. He started playing lacrosse in his hometown of St. Louis, Missouri where he was his high schools team captain and ranked 6th in the state for goals-against-average and 7th for save percentage his senior year. Jeff has coached at camps, high schools, and the NCAA level across the country and loves seeing the growth of lacrosse talent year after year.

Coach Yu is a Doctor of Physical Therapy with Spectrum Health. He and his wife, Gina, currently live in East Grand Rapids.
