William "Jerry" Flannery
Recruit Profile
Aggressive, athletic goalie and supportive team leader - calm under pressure, high lax IQ, 4.25 GPA, starting HS JV Goalie and MVP and starting Varsity Attack; 2021 Legends Eastern AllStar
I play goalie for Thunder LB3's Elite Orange program and will be Campbell High School's Varsity starting goalie in the 2022 season. I have a 4.25 gpa in a rigorous International Baccalaureate program. I have taken all Honors, AP, or IB classes. I want to play at a college with exceptional academics and exceptional lacrosse.
This summer I was one of two goalies in a mixed 2022/2023 group named to the Legends Eastern Spotlight Showcase Allstars. In 2021, I was named MVP of Campbell's JV team. As JV goalie my save percentage was 72.5 and I stopped 25 goals in a single game against one of the best programs in Georgia. I also started Varsity at attack and was one of our lead players in creating turnovers and scored more than 20% of our team's goals this season. While I am a well-rounded player, my passion and strength is goalie. I will be Varsity goalie full-time for the 2022 season.
I pride myself on being a team leader and knowing the whole game. As a goalie, I thinking playing and knowing other positions is incredibly important to assessing the field and directing the defense -- if I know what the offense is doing, I can tell the defense how to counter it. I am a physical goalie; I am not afraid to come out of the crease and lay a hit if the situation calls for it. I fight for ground balls near the crease and chase missed shots. I create opportunities for the offense and start the offense on my end of the field. I give one hundred percent effort one hundred percent of the time.
I am active in my parish and volunteer at Sunday school and an after school sports program. I believe the idea of others before self is important, and I regularly volunteer in a doing a variety of activities.
