Profile
7th Year Girls Lacrosse Coach and Director of Lacrosse Development at Somers HS, Somers, NY. Past club director

As a player, after a mediocre experience playing HS lacrosse, I challenged myself by working at my game and playing lacrosse at Greensboro (NC). I continued to play club level lacrosse at various levels as my love of the sport only grew. Originally an attacker, my specialization became defense and defensive techniques. During and after college and through the North Carolina Lacrosse Foundation, I became an advocate for schools and towns attempting to begin new programs. Our organization was recognized and presented an achievement award by the commissioner of the ACC at that time (Gene Corrigan). After moving back to NY, I took a short stint as assistant varsity boys coach at a local program, until such time that I married and started a family. After a long sabbatical from lacrosse, I took up learning girls lacrosse and coaching my daughters. As a coach, my love of the game only grew. I realized that by being a coach I could make a difference in young lives, in so many areas and on so many levels. Through lacrosse, I was able to teach the value of hard work, discipline and dedication. Lacrosse has also helped me build character and respect in these young adults, which I believe is something that is missing in the development of young people today. My coaching style and philosophy has changed over time, but the one constant is my belief that you must identify and play to your player's and/or team's strengths and avoid the "square peg in round hole" philosophy.
