John Lloyd III

2023 | LA: New Orleans

Recruit Profile
Super disciplined in my approach to the game, and always the first to congratulate my teammates on a great play. Fast runner and quick moves on the field.

Dear Prospective Coaches,

My name is John Lloyd, and I'm currently a junior at Ben Franklin High School in New Orleans, Louisiana. My goals are to attend an academically competitive college and play lacrosse at the collegiate level. I believe that my athletic skill, work ethic, enthusiasm, and coachability make me a good candidate to play on any college team.

Throughout its history Ben Franklin has continuously been ranked as the top high school in the state of Louisiana for academics, and I was fortunate enough to test into their program. Since the school does not offer lacrosse, I play on the Louisiana Chaos, a regional club team, during the regular season. In the summer season I play for the FTK Louisiana National Team, a team comprised of the top players in our state, where we compete in tournaments throughout the country. My foundational coaches on my middle school team, the Carrollton Avengers, were all retired military men who taught me the meaning and importance of teamwork, which is a lesson that resonated well with me and one that I have carried throughout my high school experience. On the Avengers I was the first player ever chosen to wear the number 40 jersey in recognition of my leadership and dedication to the team, and in of honor of Brendan Looney, a former captain and military hero of the Navy Lacrosse team.

Two years ago I joined the Ben Franklin football team as a slot receiver and kickoff returner. This has helped me stay in shape, build muscle mass, and become a more physical lacrosse player. Outside of school and sports, I am active in a number of hands on activities. In my church youth group we perform service activities such as an annual bake-in where we cook and provide 1000 loaves of bread for the needy and homebound over the holidays. I have also worked as a Counselor in Training at Strong River Camp and Farm in Mississippi, and am currently working on home renovation projects as well as rebuilding a Toyota pickup truck engine with my father.
