John Maloney returned to the University at Albany as an assistant coach in the summer of 2018.

In 2019, he spent his first season with the Great Danes coaching the defense.

Maloney, a 2016 UAlbany graduate with a degree in Human Biology, was a two-time All-America East midfielder and senior captain for the Great Danes. He finished his collegiate career with 76 goals, 45 assists and 127 ground balls before playing one season of Major League Lacrosse with the Chesapeake Bayhawks, totaling 11 points (four goals, seven assists) in 10 games.

A native of Victor, N.Y., Maloney spent one season as an assistant coach at Skidmore College in 2016-17 and another at St. John Fisher this past year.
