Joshua Cannold
Recruit Profile
Highly coachable, strong work ethic, versatile team player, multi-sport athlete, high growth ceiling player who is not burnt out, positive vibe athlete, smart and dedicated student.
My name is Joshua Cannold & I am a rising senior at Northern Valley Old Tappan in New Jersey. My junior year was my third year playing high school lacrosse. As a junior I got a lot of experience as an offensive midfielder, an SNG face-off specialist & late in the year I played a bit of crease attack.
I would like to find a role at a division 3 school. Right now in terms of college majors I think I am interested in business and communications. I spent 9 days at the start of the summer taking part in a sports management & leadership program through the National Student Leadership Conference at American University.
As an athlete I think I am getting better and better with every game and every practice. I only started playing lacrosse as a freshman. In my first season I earned a varsity letter & received an award as a scholar athlete. Like so many high school players I missed my sophomore year as a result of COVID. In the fall of my junior year I joined a club team and got more serious about the game. I believe I still have a very high ceiling for growth. I only just now finished my first full year of club lacrosse. I am also not burnt out from playing years and years of lacrosse fall, winter, spring and summer.
I think what makes me a good candidate for college is that I am a hard worker, I'm dedicated & I am a very coachable. Since starting as a high school lacrosse player I have only missed one practice. I missed that practice this season because I had to sit out after getting my second COVID vaccine shot. I am also a dedicated and hard working student.
I think my work ethic and versatility make me different than some other recruits. As our season progressed, I not only took face-offs, but I played as an offensive midfielder, played man-up and late in the season I scored goals as a crease attackman. I am also a multi-sport athlete. I have been playing soccer at NVOT since my freshman year.
Right now I am 6'0" / 175Lbs and the doctors say I am still growing. This summer I will spend time lifting, playing for my club team.
