Quinnipiac women's lacrosse head coach Tanya Kotowicz announced the addition of Kara Nakrasius to the staff as an assistant coach on July 15, 2021.

Nakrasius begins her first assistant coaching job with Quinnipiac after an outstanding playing career at Temple from 2016-2021 where she was a four-year captain as voted by her teammates from her sophomore through senior seasons and was a five-year starter.

Nakrasius was twice honored by the American Athletic Conference with an all-conference selection as she was named to the First Team All-AAC in 2019 and the Second Team in 2021. She also played a key role in leading the Owls to an AAC Championship appearance and the Second Round of the 2021 NCAA Tournament.

"I am super excited to be on board," said Nakrasius. "I can't wait to get started with an amazing coaching staff and athletic department. The opportunity to work with this team to bring home a championship is something I'm looking forward to and very grateful for."

She is also a four-time winner of Temple's Devon Marie Lam "T" Means More Award, which is given to the person who most exemplifies Temple Lacrosse through selflessness, dedication and desire for team success.

Her accolades don't stop there as Nakrasius was a nominee and participant at the 2021 NCAA Career in Sports Forum, winner of the 2019 Parliament Award, given to the Temple student-athlete who demonstrated a devotion to the essence of sport through their acts of sportsmanship as well as the 2017 Enterprise Spirit and Sportsmanship Award.

A defender by trade, she broke Temple's draw control record in her career with 236 and also ranks seventh in program history with 144 ground balls.

"Kara brings the energy, enthusiasm, and leadership we were looking for to compliment our staff," said head coach Tanya Kotowicz. "Her experience leading and competing at a high level will bring a fresh perspective as we continue to build a standard of excellence within our program."

Nakrasius started and played in 72 games in her career, totaling 13 goals and four assist for 17 points in addition to her 236 draw controls, 144 ground balls and 69 caused turnovers.

She had a career-high 11 goals in 2021 after moving up to midfield and attack. As a defender, Nakrasius had a career-high 68 draw controls as a junior in 2019 and career-highs of 38 ground balls and 21 caused turnovers as a sophomore in 2018.

Nakrasius graduated from Temple with a BA in Adult and Organizational Development in May 2020.
