Kate Risley
Recruit Profile
Hardworking, focused, highly motivated, leader on and off the field, coachable, multi-sport athlete, strong community connections.
My lacrosse experience began at age eight years old and has continued on up until now. My development, improvement and overall love for game has been executed in my play and my attitude on and off the field. I have played on various travel teams year round and completed a series of camps, clinics and 1:1 training sessions. As a defender, I am comfortable using both hands and anticipating passes. I pride myself on playing man-on-man defense outside the 8 meter and being a quick outlet for the goalie on clears.
As a sophomore I took Honors English, Honors Spanish, Honors Algebra, Honors Chemistry and Honors Global Studies. I am currently taking AP Biology and AP Statistics in my junior year along with Honors English, Honors Global Studies, Honors Spanish, Honors Pre- Calculus and Chemistry of Medicine as an elective.
Outside of school, I am actively involved with my community. Three years ago I co-founded a charity called Rooms4roots (rooms4roots.org) that helps girls my age in need - “every girl deserves a special room”. We have transformed 5 rooms by fundraising in our community. I also volunteer with the Special Olympics Foundation focusing on different sports and teaching athletes about teamwork and positive attitude. During the summers, I am a volunteer for Appalachia Service Project and have travelled to West Virginia to help rebuild homes.
