Colgate women's lacrosse head coach Kathy Taylor announced the addition of Katherine Sweeney to the staff as an assistant coach in Aug. 2019.

Sweeney joins the Raiders after most recently spending a season as the womens lacrosse coach at Quinnipiac University. While with the Bobcats, Sweeney mentored two MAAC All-Rookie Team members as well as 20 student-athletes named to the MAAC All-Academic Team.

It is exciting to welcome Katherine to our raider community and staff, Taylor said. An outstanding player and young coaching mind she brings energy and passion to the game. I look forward to working alongside both of these talented young women as we take on the Patriot League and beyond.

Prior to her time at Quinnipiac, Sweeney spent two seasons with the Wagner College womens lacrosse program where she served as an assistant coach. "I am excited to join the Colgate Womens Lacrosse program as an Assistant Coach, Sweeney said. I would like to thank Kathy Taylor and the entire search committee at Colgate that have given me the opportunity to help lead and develop the young women that are a part of this team. I am extremely excited about the future of this program and to be able to educate and coach the student-athletes of this university alongside Kathy and Jess."

Sweeney started her coaching career with the United 2019 Club coach and as the Different Road Patriots head coach. Gaining additional experience, Sweeney has coached at various camps throughout the northeast.

Sweeney earned a Master of Business Administration in marketing from Wagner College in 2018 after garnering a Bachelor of Arts in fine art from the State University of New York at Albany in 2016.
