Katie Westbrook
Recruit Profile
Team player. High lax IQ. Great vision and makes quick decisions. Ability to read defenses and will make the right cuts at the right times. Ready to redefend.
When I was in 5th grade, my sister started to play lacrosse for our high school and when I went to her games I thought it looked really fun so I decided to try it out. Before 5th grade, I had played more individual sports but through playing lacrosse I've been able to learn what it means to be a good teammate, leader, and collaborate to accomplish team and individual goals. Looking back at the past spring season, my favorite moments were during tough games when we would huddle as a team and try to talk through issues. There were multiple games where we were losing at the beginning of the game but came back and won. Games like those taught me about determination, especially when a game can get frustrating.
As a player, I prefer attack but can also play midfield. I am constantly working to learn more about lacrosse so that I can have a strong understanding of the game while on the field and in general. I also pride myself on working to have strong stick skills at practice and on my own time. I always look for new things to try to help improve my game and develop new skills. At the next level, I am looking for a school where I can be challenged not only athletically, but academically as well. I'm also looking for a program that cares about me as a person where I can build strong relationships with my teammates and coaches.

I have coached Katie personally through Lake Murray Rapids and the SC National Team and I have coached against Katie on the high school varsity level. Katie is an outstanding attacker who puts her teammates above herself but isn't afraid to score on a dime when needed. She is recognizable amongst other players due to her quick instinctive play, outstanding ability to cut and dodge, and her creative vision on and off ball. Katie is a leader, not only leading in the statistic component but also in her passion, attitude, and commitment. She is a positive influence on her teammates, a pride to her coaches, and an all around talented athlete. Katie's drive and competitive nature are what will continue to contribute to her success, and her passion for the game and willingness to learn are what will keep her at the top of any program she participates in. I can wholeheartedly recommend Katie for next level play--guaranteeing that herself as a person and her talent as an athlete will benefit any college program she is a part of.

I am honored to endorse Katie and have had the privilege of coaching her on the Varsity program. Katie has speed, consistency, is quick to dodge, and has pinpoint accuracy with her passing and her shooting. Her field IQ and ability to catch passes under pressure makes her stand out on the field. Katie is an outstanding student athlete and leads both on and off the field while encouraging others, creating an excellent team atmosphere. Myself and her other coaches awarded her Captain for the upcoming season because we believe she will continue to lead the team in a positive direction. I believe she will be an excellent asset to any program.

An amazing student athlete for her high school program and travel program. Katie is a passionate teammate who has the ability to excel on the field. From her vision, cutting, and quick release, to her field IQ, anticipation, and creativity, she is a very solid attack player. Her personality and dedication to all she is involved defines her even more as a player off the field. Her statistics in a competitive level speaks volumes, but it is the non statistical data that separates her play style. She will be an amazing asset to any program after high school and honored to be able to endorse her as a player.
