Kerri Handras will take over the women's lacrosse program as the Interim Head Coach for the 2021 season.

Handras joins the Privateers after successful stints at NYIT and Dowling College.

"We're very happy to bring in coach Handras to lead our women's lacrosse program this spring," said Interim Director of Athletics Mike Berkun. "She brings in a wealth of experience and success from Division II lacrosse at NYIT and Dowling and we are confident that she will continue to build on the program's recent achievements."

During the past three seasons with NYIT, Handras led the Bears to a combined 42-14 overall record and 20-4 in conference play. In the program's first ever season of competition in 2017, she led the team to a berth in the NCAA tournament. Two years later, NYIT earned a share of the regular season conference title with a 7-1 record in ECC action. In addition to on-field success in 2017, the Bears were also recognized by the IWLCA as a Zag Sports Academic Honor Squad for achieving at least a 3.0 team GPA during the 2016-17 academic year.

Prior to NYIT, Handras coached at Dowling College for nine years as the women's lacrosse head coach and 11 years as the women's soccer head coach. At the helm of the women's lacrosse program, she produced eight IWLCA All-Americans, 23 IWLCA All-Region players, seven ECC Players of the Year and 59 all-ECC selections. She recorded a 115-39 overall record whille at Dowling, including a 17-4 record in 2016 and the program's first ever NCAA tournament win. In 2011, she led the program to it's first ever ECC Championship and received their first berth into the NCAA tournament.

"I am very excited and eager to build upon the teams recent success, and look to become a top contender in the Skyline Conference. It has been a challenging year for most with the lack of fall ball and preseason but this group is young, motivated and ready to compete!"
