A former four-year player in the program, Hunt began his second tenure on the staff in 2019 after the last coaching with the squad in 2013.

The Purple Knights, who began the year receiving a national vote from the United State Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA), carried 17 first-years in 2019 while finishing fifth in the nation in caused turnovers per game (11.4) - buoyed by Division II leader Will Moriarty '20 (3.0) - and near the top third in scoring defense (10.6). Saint Michael's forged a 3-1 mark to begin the campaign, which included a 9-5 victory at Palm Beach Atlantic (Fla.) University, which was receiving national votes. A challenging schedule saw each of the Purple and Gold's first three losses come by five goals or fewer against nationally-ranked squads, as six losses were by five or less. Five of the Purple Knights' 11 Northeast-10 Conference foes were ranked heading into their contests, and two others were receiving votes.

In 2013, the Purple Knights were 9-2 in the Northeast-10 Conference, setting a school record for league wins, and finished 11-5 to match the program's overall victories mark. Saint Michael's, which peaked at No. 9 in the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) national poll, advanced to its third straight NE10 Championship semifinal round. The Purple and Gold also broke a 26-year-old school record by putting together a nine-game winning streak, which included an 11-9 win against previously undefeated No. 2 Adelphi University on April 13.

Following his stint at Saint Michael's, Hunt was an assistant coach instrumental in helping the Champlain Valley Union High School varsity boys' lacrosse team win five straight Vermont Division I state championships between 2014 and 2018, orchestrating an offense for a program that posted a cumulative 63-11 mark in that time, including 40-4 over the final three seasons. Hunt is also co-owner of Top Strung Lacrosse, a youth- and high school-based lacrosse organization in Vermont.

A 2011 New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (NEILA) All-New England selection, Hunt completed his career with 43 goals, 42 assists and 85 points in 58 games, tallying his final 63 points as an upperclassman. He was also twice chosen for an NE10 Academic All-Conference accolade due to achievements as both a student and an athlete. The two-year captain, who earned bachelor's degrees in English and secondary education from Saint Michael's in 2012, completed his master's degree from the College in education in 2015.
