Kya Risher
Recruit Profile
Academics First, with extremely high lacrosse IQ. Honors student as well as highly coachable lacrosse goalie
I started playing lacrosse at the age of 12 for Hillsborough Jr. Raiders where I started as a defensive field player but my coach quickly realized that I would be most beneficial to the team as a goalie. I stepped up into a position no one else wanted and I stood out. Knowing little about the position I was handed, I jumped into the roll as captain of the defense. Since jumping into that position I have been perfecting my skills as a goalie. With swift hands and quick reflexes, I am always up for a challenge. I played for the Hillsborough Jr Raiders rec team and also the middle school from the 6th to 8th grade. The summer before 8th grade I joined T3 travel lacrosse and played in multiple tournaments throughout the summer. I excelled as the primary goalie for the T3 north 2020 Blue team. Once I got to high school, I was on the freshman, JV and Varsity team my freshman year. As a freshman, I made the top 10 leader board in saves for Hillsborough High School of all time. By 10th grade, I had earned the respect of the new coach and secured my starting position on varsity. As the starting varsity goalie, I kept my team out of sticky situations, however we fell short and lost the semi-final round of the county tournaments. Although we lost, the experience I had was priceless. I was even nominated as NJ.com breakout player of the month. I came in 3rd place with over 25 thousand votes cast for me.
In the summer of 2017 my team and I (T3 North team) went 17-1-1 on the summer season with a highlight of winning the championship at the Grind Tournament in Pennsylvania. Currently I am a junior at Hillsborough High school and am hoping to remain starting goalie this spring on the Hillsborough High varsity team. I play fall and winter lacrosse for T3 North and am constantly finding ways to improve my skills.
Lacrosse isn't all of me. I am an honors student taking honors classes and I love to draw and listen to music. I plan on studying architecture, civil engineering or graphic design in college. I also work with kids with special needs. I tutor students and I am a peer mentor in my high school.

Kya is a very dedicated goalie with super quick hands. She is very disciplined and is always open to learning. She was selected to play in the National Lacrosse Classic but due to a camp conflict was unable to attend. She would have been a great addition to the team.
